The world's favorite pizza-loving superheroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special panel held at NYCC. Is this a radical addition or simply another Universes Beyond marketing move? We'll let you decide.
Take a look here at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with key background. Everything listed below launches on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27th.
Before we get into the many special decks and collections on offer, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let’s explore a couple of surprising details. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, in which gamers can cheat big creatures into the game field whenever an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can apply to non-creature spells as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a bit (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely players will encounter the new mechanic in future sets from now on.
Should we go back to Kamigawa, we might use Ninjutsu because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “However in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is among four special cards with unique artwork created specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist Kevin Eastman.
Additionally, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. Yet according to the developers, it’s now a legal card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:
As per the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they took care to make sure the cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for 15 months and we knew it was going to be in standard and what other sets would be alongside it in standard,” the designer says. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype focused on artifacts.
“They combine to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard deck,” the designer added.
After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your Commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command zone rather than just one). Check them out below:
The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on demand. Wizards indicated that it contains 43 new cards altogether, which translates to an extra thirty-seven Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders shown earlier. (Doing some rough math, this suggests about 20 reprinted cards if we assume the deck includes 37 land cards.)
What will the Turtles edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
As per usual, the company is offering a collection. This one costs $69.99 and includes the following:
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:
If you’re wondering what a “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card featuring all-new Turtle-themed art. The team showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza slice. There are six different pizza promos in total.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.
This unique product is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
Lastly, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic products specifically for new players. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend join forces to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The concept here that each Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
